BMW V12 LMP MODIFY

Dome had plans for a marketable racing sports car but as we had not designed a pur racing sports car since the 1988 Toyota 88C-V we were looking for a chance to consider the technical aspects. At the same time we were approached by Team Go, who has participated in the Le Mans 24 Hour Race, asking us whether we could modify the BMW LMP V12 and we gladly accepted this chance. Last year we raced the original chassis at the Le Mans Fuji 1000km Race to gather data. We followed that up with aerodynamic testing and found a setting that gave us a 15% increase in performance, and so we started the modification program. After a while Team Go were given the TV Asahi's Le Mans Project so the modified BMW LMP V12 will no longer be racing in the Le Mans Race but we have continued development of the chassis and we are now informing you that it has finished.

The main modifications are as follows:

● New bodywork that reduces drag by 5% and increases downforce by 10%.

● The cooling air intakes were moved to the upper side of the body to improve maintenance.

● The weight of the bodywork has been reduced by about 30kg using the newest composite technology.

● The front suspension has been changed to a more conventional pushrod type.

● The headlights use the Raybrig HID System to improve performance in the night session.

Team Go are planning to run this modified BMW LMP V12 in the American Le Mans series. We shall inform you of this as soon as the details have been formalized.
